Transformative
Psychotherapy

Opening our hearts and minds to others, with the intention of looking inward, requires an immense amount of courage. My approach is collaborative and playful. I arrive in sessions as a human first, therapist second.

How I Work

I use a trauma-informed, multicultural, attachment-focused lens and integrate a blend of psychodynamic, insight oriented & somatic therapies in my practice.

Psychotherapy

Individual, Dyadic, Family, and Parent Work

  • Weekly 1:1 sessions, or twice a week if needed

  • Dyadic sessions; such as mother/daughter, siblings, father/daughter, etc.

  • Family sessions; navigating family dynamics, goals, and levels of interactions in a supportive environment to foster understanding, repair, empathy, and strengthen connection.

  • Parent work; a therapeutic approach to parenting, supporting anxious children while addressing emotional/behavioral challenges, and strengthening connections between parents-child/ren.

SOME OF MY SPECIALTIES

  • Trauma/PTSD

An integral part of experiencing trauma is feeling different from others, whether or not the trauma was an individual or group experience. Traumatic experiences typically feel surreal and challenge the necessity and value of mundane activities of daily life

When someone experiences trauma, it can disrupt their sense of safety, control, and trust in the world. Trauma therapy is a tool for those who are seeking to understand their experiences in a safe and proactive way.

  • OCD

People with OCD struggle with either obsessions or compulsions or both. Obsessions are unwanted and intrusive thoughts, images or impulses. Obsessions make people feel upset and anxious. Compulsions are actions or rituals people are driven to perform to get rid of anxiety.

OCD is a highly treatable mental health condition, using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) informed by ACT/CBT.

ERP works by carefully exposing people to situations that trigger their obsessions, then helping them resist the urge to engage in compulsions as a result. In time, this process teaches them to sit with the discomfort and anxiety that comes from obsessions, rather than resorting to compulsions that perpetuate the OCD cycle.

  • Insight Oriented Treatment

Forms of treatment in which we would work together to understand how beliefs, thoughts, feelings, and experiences impact the present state of mind
